It was during my engineering days that I realised that a lot of movies can be viewed differently. My perception of cinema changes with each passing day.Never expected that I would have a list of synonyms for "Cinema" in my personal thesaurus.

Irresponsible medium:Shame on me to be an audience

Nov 29 2008 | 106 Comments » | 1,450 views

THIS POST CONTAINS MY EXTREME PERSONAL VIEWS OF THE EVENTS UNFOLDING ON NEWS CHANNELS IN INDIA.The terrorist have already done the damage and the siege is over. The other group of people who have silently created panic and anxiety is the Indian media. They have no sense of responsibilty whatsoever. They are so opinionated and so naive.Everyday we witness birth of news channels..all set to out do each other.I believe that any form media is the reflection of the society. But the frenzied media I saw for the past three days is a reflection of an uncouth voyeuristic arm chair critic society of which I am a part of..and I am ashamed of it.

Persepolis and me

I just could not avoid it after watching Persepolis the movie a few weeks back.I felt a sense of Deja Vu.(I shall come back to the reason what triggered it).For now,let me rant about the movie Persepolis.

(SPOILERS AHEAD!!!!!!) A semi-biographical tale of Marjane Satrapi(Director 1).The movie spans over two decades..probably incorporating all the incidents and events that changed the face of Iranian socio-economic culture and politics. From the Shah of Iran to the theocratic regime. The tale beautifully concocts the life of young Marjane with the volatile political scenario of Iran. Her life is not spared from the volatility and vicissitude either.

What amazed me is the animation.Beautiful animation.I do not know what form of animation it is..but it was mesmerizing.Something not viewed quite often.(the closest I could compare the animation was with the Scandinavian style if there is any). The flash back in monochrome was unbeatable(I just adore anything black and white).Florid …

(4/5) The break-neck speed gives a climactic feel to the film at the onset.

Amidst the interview (K J Singh: Interview Part One) there were several occasions where interesting topics came up. Interacting with K J Singh was a learning experience because he shared so many of his experiences and insightful thoughts. Hence, it was not much of a surprise for us when he mentioned the fact the he teaches at University of Mumbai and at a private set up too.
Producer’s Role…
He said that a music producer should a be like a “bouncing board “. A producer is the person who is in the position to validate the work, which the artist is working on.
Rabbi’s Bulla Ki Jaana..
He had met Rabbi, many years ago, in Delhi, as a young, angst ridden guitar player. His rendering of the famous folklore Heer was quite unusual. They met again in 1999 when Sony music was almost …

The word “Sound” holds a different meaning for me post interviewing K J Singh.
A little introduction is necessary because this man has been associated with all the possible positions that encompasses music and sound in India. He has worked on Films Background Score & soundtracks like Satya, Maqbool, Rage De Basanti, Omkara, Black Friday and many more. Also he has produced the greatest Indian band ‘Indian Ocean’ and Rabbi’s Shergill debut album ‘Rabbi’. I would like to congratulate Mr.Singh for winning the National Award this year for Audiography for the film “Omkara”. (A full fledged discography of K J Singh can be checked here.)

Heath Nolan and Christopher Eckhart are anarchists!

Jul 18 2008 | 11 Comments » | 316 views

It is almost 3 am Saturday morning or is it still late friday night? I do not want to spend much time thinking over it.For the past one month..I have not missed a single clip or news piece belonging to Nolans’ ” The Dark Knight”.I just witnessed easily one of the best movies in recent times some minutes back.

As a kid I was never fascinated by super heroes or their movies.Never did I like them.Hated the burlesque characterisation.I can not remember a single movie which I did watch. But this movie,” The Dark Knight ” ..I could not miss it…for it was Nolan’s work.Man..that guy is a story teller..he does the job as good as any grand-ma can!

I could not work at my work station today.Catching up on every bit of reviews which was trickling in..I was wary of the spoilers too.Was wondering whether to watch it first day first show..and …

Accident “Hamaal”

There has to be a strong reason or a cause for me to type in some lines.I think this is the opportunetime for to do so again. The moment I delay my urge to write,I lose all the impetus.Something has been bothering me at the back of my mind for the past few days.

Its been almost a year since I have started working. My work makes me travel by Mumbaisuburban local trains.Every morningI board a train from Bandra Station and head towards Thane which includes changing at Dadar Station. It used to be a daunting task changing trains.A complete mindfuckevento think aboutit forget being in the processof doing it.Ayear down the line I did not expect that this mindfuck would to turn so addictive.A lot ofpeople in this city would be sharing the same addiction.

I tend to feel vulnerable while traveling by suburban local trains.Chances of being alive is lesser when one …
